Hi, welcome to Project U.C. I have been debating about whether or not I should make this blog for some time, but as you can see I finally caved. This blog is mostly so I can get my name out there… but I still haven’t decided whether or not I want to use a pen name like Monkey Punch did, or if I should let the public know who this portfolio really belongs too.
Moving along, don’t expect speedy updates because I work by drawing each individual line in and the process can take days, weeks or even months for a single model to get done. It really depends on how much reference I have and how detailed I want to get. I work off of blueprints mainly, but I also use line art, pictures of the MS in question, pictures of models, paper crafts of the MS, and if I’m lucky enough to have more money then I need just to eat, I some times buy plastic models as they are my favorite kind of reference. My dream is to own a PG Zeta Gundam one day. The Zeta is my favorite Gundam, which is why you probably won’t see me make it--if I missed one thing, mis- modeled something or got the proportions wrong, I would feel like I had dishonored it. I don’t feel the same with other models since I’m not in love with them but that doesn’t mean I won’t do my best to make them as accurate as I can.
The purpose of this blog has two layers: the first is to show my favorite part of my portfolio, and the second is to document my progress as I attempt to make every Mobile Suit in the Universal Century.
I ask two things above all else, and the first is: don’t compare me to other artists! I don’t care about them or what they have done unless you think it would be a good reference for making my model. The second thing I ask is to never, ever, ever, ever say anything about making Seed, 00, G, Wing, SD or other mecha to me unless your willing to pay for me to take time off to make them. If you have a nice paper craft that I might like, then shoot it my way.
I love robots, and if you get me on a good day I may actually make a mecha from another show, like Code Geass or Transformers, and sell you the mesh. However, let it be known that if I’m asked to make the mech on a bad day, I’ll put it on my black list and never make it… at least not untell I’m finshed with the goal of project U.C. … Unless you manage to persuade me, which will be hard to do unless you have a model I want from Bandai or Dengeki, or some cash. I certainly do love cash. It lets me eat more than once a day… which reminds me, all I had on Thursday was two Reese’s cups. Oh, the life of an unemployed student, ha-ha… he… he… sigh…
More to come…
